Out of the Gate
One week after the release of Episode 1 we’re still running
at full speed. Well, one leg is anyway, if we were to continue the metaphor.
The other one seems to have stepped in a tar pit called “organic animation.”
The act of animating the dragon has proved quite challenging, as each solution
seems to create its own problem. Fortunately there is no full body shot of the
dragon until Episode 5, so we have some time to get it right.
Stunt team continues as always, but it has slowly begun to
grow. Official choreography is slated to begin next week.
In other bright news, we expect to receive the first full
draft of the Episode 2 soundtrack today, just in time to get it refined and
deliver the next episode to you by this time next week.
Until then!

Sometimes You Beat the Dragon…
Hello again! So, good news and slogging news. Saturday we
had our first reading for Season 2, which went well, despite our significant
gift of gab. The 122 pages only took 5 hours to get through. (Though, in all
fairness, the first three pages took an hour.)
By request, the cast got to see the completed Episode 1
(once they finished the first two-thirds of the script.) Even with enormous
levels of self-criticism, the response was generally positive, even from our
most skeptical member.
Sunday saw another stunt meeting, this time focused on
developing the shortsword drills required for a particular location in Season
2.
Now, the slogging bit. We have run into a bit of a hiccup
with the dragon animation for episodes 4 and 5. Mostly the challenge revolves
around properly integrating it into the environment, as the model still looks
far too crisp and clean for the world it’s in. All of this is a steep learning
curve, but it will get done, even if we have brick shaped impressions on our
foreheads by the time it’s all said and done.
Well, that’s about all for now. Until next time!
