Models, Math, and Monologues

Greetings, one and all! This week opened up with the ADR session for our lead villain, employing the voice talents of the ever flexible Shawn Pruett. The session itself was entertaining, as we tried out different deliveries, and he acclimated to the new challenge of doing the voice and accent, while also speaking in a fictional language.

Sunday, the team met, and since yet another bout of sickness meant we didn’t have the materials for the next phase of modelmaking, we dove into the opening salvo of a large choreography challenge. A welcome reprieve after sitting hunched over for the last few weeks.

Monday saw the syncing of still more audio, as well as the creative mixing of wild takes for reactions, and a few injuries. On top of that, we put a wrap on another effects shot for the alleyway scene.
Tuesday was a mirror of itself a week prior, as we turned to still more math, to calculate what was needed and the most efficient use of materials for the Imperium cruiser model. Boring, but necessary.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

Plans and Basecoats

Greetings, one and all! Well, the progress this week was quite varied. First off, being dissatisfied with some of the park scene fixes, I dove back into the ADR recordings, and synced up different deliveries in some areas.

Sunday, the team met again, and this time we base-coated the foam cityscape by hand with leftover paint from the ship set, so that the spray paint propellant wouldn’t eat away at the foam. So far, so chill. Then we pulled out the longswords and did a round of duels. Because what’s a stunt meet without a little violence?

Last, but not least, with the bulk of the Hunter’s ship done, we’ve begun to make patterns for the hull plating on the Imperium cruiser. Thus far, it’s been a lot of math, rulers, and whatnot. But it’s coming together quite well.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

In the Details

Greetings, one and all! This week saw the continuation of several lines of work, as well as the completion of one long in coming. First off, the audio nightmare that was the park scene has had its ADR applied, and adjustments for realism are underway.

Secondly, more detailing is being added to the city, this time from the electronics scavenged last week.

Last, but not least, the weathering has finally begun on Hunter’s ship. Watered-down acrylics are stippled across surfaces and painted into the recesses, to give an added feeling of age and depth.

Despite one or two accidents, I’m pretty pleased with how this turned out. For starters, I actually had the good sense to experiment on the side we’ll be seeing less. But even that went well, so mission accomplished.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!
