Greetings, one and all! It's not much of a
stretch to say that this week was divided into two segments: Progress,
and recovering said progress.
First off, in a fit of
inspiration, we put together a prologue script, only to open it the next
day for revisions, and find it totally blank, with no backup versions
in sight. Attempts to reconstruct it fell flat, which eventually led to
us creating an entirely different opening.
Thankfully, other
progress was made. ADR elements were synced into Episode 2, and a new
blast bolt design was put together, as well as working on marketing
questions with the team. On top of that, we've been figuring out
materials for the ship and city models, as well as the budget we have
for them.
Sunday, the team met, and we taught the newer members the fine art of sword and shield, followed by a practical applications session.
In
the background, a couple backlogged scripts were sent to various team
members for review. If all goes well, we may see at least one of them,
in the near or distant future...
Well, that's about all for this week. Until next time!

First Pass, Second Episode
Greetings, one and all! This week has been fairly
productive, despite a few hiccups. Episode 1 has had its edit tightened a
bit, to improve the tempo of the action. Episode 2 has received its
rough edit, as well as its sound sync. This episode proved more
challenging, as the audio varied widely between angles, but we finally
sorted that out.
Sunday, the rains returned to the Pacific Northwest, so the growing stunt team squeezed itself into the shop, to engage in some educational duels. Two people square off, and, after each round, the instructors give notes and suggestions on technique.
All in all, good progress was made.

Episode Sizing
Greetings, one and all! So we've had a decent spread
of events, this week. First off, episode 1 has been edited and sound
synced. (Except the prologue, of course.) Now we'll need to put together
the effects shots, and transfer those into the composition. There was
some initial debate as to the strongest ending for the episode, but I
think we have it figured out.
Secondly, the prologue script is on its fourth draft, and undergoing some intense revisions. As said before, beginnings are hard, and we need to make sure we really capture the audience's attention.
Lastly, the stunt team met, in its first official return to normal operations after the shoot. After a refresher for the new members, we launched into choreography exercises, which led to more than a few humorous scenarios.
Well, that's about all for this week. Until next time!

Stormborn: Post-production Week 1
Greetings, one and all! Okay, so I'm probably not
gonna continue the above naming convention through the rest of
post-production, but it's the most apt summary of the week. It's strange
being on this side of the shoot. So much tension and anticipation
just... gone. Makes me realize we've been building toward this since
basically 2015, even though we didn't know what "this" is. We've
basically always been in pre-production for something, ever since 2010. This is probably the first project where I'm actually taking the time to finish, before starting the next thing. (But we'll see how long that resolve lasts...)
Anyway, this week saw us wading through the stream of little things inherent in a post-shoot timeframe. Re-organizing and packing costumes, storing materials, and getting the footage prepped for the edit. While the first episode cannot be completed until we've shot the prologue, the footage we do have has been edited together. Here's a teaser image from a color correction test:
Today I will be heading out to capture some clean plates for some composite shots, and then returning to the task of creating the prologue, which is proving to be somewhat challenging. But it's good to take your time, and get those opening moments right.
