The Cast Grows...

Greetings, one and all! Well, this last week has certainly been interesting. On the less happy side, we’ve had tools break, and the graphics card on the editing computer just die, so that’ll be a wee bit of cash to replace. However, in better news, we’ve also added two more people to our cast! The sisters Zoe and Noelle Opperman join us on this adventure, and here you can see a screen grab from their reading last year.

Zoe, Noelle, welcome to the team!

Next up, the team met again, and this time turned their attention toward teaching the new members the fine art of sword and shield fighting.

Lastly, we’ve also done a chemistry reading with two of our potential leads, and the one we’ve already cast, getting a feeling for how they’d interact as brother and sister. Hopefully the decision from that reading will come soon, and we’ll be able to welcome more team members aboard.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

New and Returning

Greetings, one and all! So, this week was interesting… After mostly recovering from the bug last week, the area proceeded to be hit by a wind and ice storm. This had the effect of knocking out power a lot of places, and cell and internet connection in others. This naturally slowed things down a bit, as our casting system is almost entirely online. But we still managed to throw in one reading, and I got a stack of stunt weapon templates out of the down time.

On to the better news, we have officially cast four characters!

Joshua Fair and Jay Wilcox return from Stormborn, this time with larger supporting roles, and we welcome Micah Wilcox and Jillian Griffith as new team members! We’re looking forward to working with you all.

Lastly, the team met again this week. We taught the new members how to stunt roll, but sadly most of those pictures came out blurry, or in awkward positions. What did come out clearly was a bit of Plan B choreography, an alternative in case we lack the budget for another piece of the scene.

So a productive week, despite the complications.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

Full Week, Full Action

Greetings, one and all! So, this week was a very long one, especially as I was working very hard to stay healthy for the readings on Saturday. Sadly, that didn’t entirely work, but thankfully the cold was mild enough that it didn’t interfere. The readings went very well, and we’re now much closer to having our final cast.

In an effort to use the time when I wasn’t quite at full capacity well, we took some time to precisely break down who appears in what scenes, how much of that scene, and who they interact with. As this is a project that focuses on more of an ensemble cast, a broad range of characters that come and go in the story, knowing how you can arrange to have actors with full time jobs work within what would easily be a full summer shoot is vital.

On top of all that, the team met again this week, and we focused on a bit of the winding and binding of blades, along with a choreography exercise for the new stunties.

Oh, and a bit of demonstrating live steel, as well...
So, all in all, a very productive week for being a bit under the weather.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

The Team That Teaches Together...

Greetings, one and all! I’m happy to report that this week has seen a decent spread of progress. First off, we had a couple readings, and have scheduled four more for this coming week. However, two of my family members have caught a wee bit of a cold, so I’m just praying I don’t catch it, and we can get through those readings.

Next up, the team met again, this time with almost a full compliment. What’s more, this week the stunties taught the class. After giving the overview, I just stood back and watched them work, only stepping in to give clarifying points.

On top of that, the polypropylene sheets we’ll be using to make stunt weapons have finally arrived. After a couple months of orders not coming through, or distributors just not responding, we’ve settled for the plan we’d used for Stormborn. However, hopefully this time we’ll come up with a better idea for keeping the paint in place.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!
