To Arms!

Um... yeah. Okay, so maybe I jumped the gun there. The first meeting of the stunt team for Gatewalkers was a bit quieter then normal, but productive nonetheless. We ran over what scenes we would need to choreograph, and the logistics of making them happen. Our hostess was most helpful in the latter aspect. Most of the team consists of returning veterans from our previous projects, so I have high hopes that we will surpass our previous endeavors.
Savara's armor is coming together, quite literally. The leather has been dyed a deep burgundy, making for a very striking contrast with the rest of the costume. Other little pieces are falling into place, but those will be the subject of another blog, (once they take a more concrete form.)

Until next time!

Crafting: Stage 1

Well, the big progress made this last week revolves around costuming. The cuirass has been cut from the leather, but thanks to some delays in our shopping trip, has yet to be sewn together.

The shield has been built, but we still need to add a wrist brace, straps, spine reinforcement, and metal banding. The shield is designed to work for either a skirmisher or a spear line. (Perhaps a hint of things to come?)

We have also completed the census/inventory of all the cloth and costumes we have from previous projects. It was tedious, but the end result is a reduced costuming bill, so there's no complaint on my end.

The stunt guys are busy recruiting for the team, with our orientation meeting taking place this weekend. They also had a couple suggestions for actors that I'll have to look into. Anyway, that's about it for this week.

Thanks for reading! Until next time.

Forging Ahead

Okay, so the title is a bad pun hinting at the developments of this week. First off, our leather shipments arrived, which means our costuming now begins in earnest.

First on the agenda is the cuirass for Savara, which we have designed and, through trial and error, developed a pattern. (Pro Tip: Newsprint works wonders.) Next, we will transfer the pattern to 8/9oz tooling leather, sew the parts together, dye the finished product, apply buckles and detailing, and voila! One piece down.

Also, we have successfully passed through the first stage of weapons design. The patterns have been made and passed off to our resident metalworker, who is quite enthusiastic to unleash his talent on these new challenges. Elven spears, goblin daggers, and a black axe are just a few of the adventures that lie in his future. Meanwhile, it is my personal adventure this week to build a rather unique shield for our berserker race. Pictures to come as the projects advance.

Thanks for reading! Until next time...

Morrigan

Happy New Year everyone!

This will be a short update, but worth it. Morrigan has finally been cast! Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Constance Hardy to the team!

P.S. My apologies to Constance for using one of her Facebook pics, but one line blog updates just don't cut it. :-D
