Iron Locks, and Unlocked Shots

Greetings, one and all! So this marks two weeks and two days of working on the pitch video pretty much constantly. I’ve gotta say, I like scripted content better. At least you know what shot goes to what dialog, but here I’m trying to give unrelated elements common context. I think I’m ready to be done, but I still have a ways to go… Ah well, it’s just part of the path to doing the big stuff, so, like sound cleanup, (*winces*) ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

In further news, a small shipment of project-related items arrived this week. When you’re writing about an island largely peopled with criminals, certain things are a must…

In the fine tradition of the state heating up just in time for Sunday, our team engaged in some more low-impact exercises to keep themselves from melting in the heat.

Blows were struck, fun was had, and we all retired safely at the end of the day. All in all, a productive week, though I’m looking forward to engaging in some of the less draining aspects of my field once the pitch video wraps.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

The Balance of the Matter

Greetings, one and all! This week has turned almost one hundred percent to the creation of the pitch video. Some insights earlier this week turned the direction of things a bit, so we followed where they led, and have finally recorded audio for the pitch.

It’s strange to be cataloging this here, because most people will never see it, but it’s part of the process, so here we are. We also took a moment to visit Kult of Athena, our favorite online retailer of medieval goods, to acquire things as varied as a stage combat spearhead and a medieval padlock, in preparation for the proof of concept phase of our upcoming project.
In shinier news, having several people out of commission this week, our stunt team went full Robin Hood, and practiced things like dueling on a narrow 2x4, and dodging arrows whilst balancing on the aforementioned beam.

It was both a workout, and a relaxing break from the more mentally challenging work of choreography.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

Back to Work

Greetings, one and all! Well, after the lockdown hiatus, and the “bring us back up to speed” sessions, we are finally back in the game! Picking up where we left off earlier this year, the team choreographed another section of the final fight from our script.

On top of that, with the weather finally staying warm and dry for more than a day or two, the kindjal stunt blades have been painted, rubber coated, and had the grip scales attached. We still need to add the brass accents, but we’re getting there.

In keeping with these past few weeks, I’ve been working on the pitch for what we do, and I think I’ve finally come to a version that has more rhetorical punch, and doesn’t drag on as much. So, good progress is being made, but my, does it take its sweet time…

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!
