Scouts, Scrollwork, and Snippets

Greetings, one and all! Well, we’ve definitely been productive this week. We opened with the first location scout for the project, followed by detail work on the weapon of the resident barkeep.

We spent the next several days fielding the questions and progress reports of our team members, including two new ones who are assisting with armor fabrication. At the time of writing, the first actor fitting has just been completed.
Last but not least, the team met and choreographed a snippet of a fight that will be caught in a cutaway…

By the time you’re reading this, we will be well on our way to the first actor fight training of the week. So, here… we… go.

Until next time!

With Only Weeks To Go...

Greetings, one and all! So this week has been… interesting. The down side is we lost an actor in a supporting role, due to an uptick in business on his end. The upside is we have two people scheduled to do readings for that part, and have met people with prop and armor making experience. So what started as a loss has led us to other kinds of blessings.

Yet more of the Ebonheart armor has been assembled, starting with the very complicated gauntlets. After far too long agonizing over them, I went with a silly, kinda chaotic method for crafting, which so far has seemed to work. As you can see, the upper body is beginning to come together...

Sunday the team met again, and refined the shrine fight sequence...

Last but not least, at the time of writing this we are mere minutes away from another actor training session. Any pictures from that will go below.

After some precision training, we worked on blocking the Vault sequence, followed by a spot of costuming. This only begins our wild week, which will feature readings and location scouts.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

Antagoinists, and the Arming Thereof

Greetings, one and all! So this week saw a few highlights. First off, we had an actor training session Wednesday, which opened with short blade training for our leads, rolled into some scene blocking with another actor, before again collapsing into yet more combat training.

Later in the week, we started the multi-phase process of designing the method we’d need to create stunt axes. Here’s a pair of them, pre paint job.

On top of that, the development of leg armor is ongoing. Apparently I made the first set of thigh armor too short, so I’ll need to remedy that…

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

Classes and Clashes

Greetings, one and all! I’m happy to report that this week has been very busy. As mentioned last week, we’ve started work on the leg armor of the suit we began last year, and I’ve discovered how large the gaps are that still have to be covered. Trying to make something look like it’s made of stone, while still letting the actor move is… an experience.

Next up, with fairly busy schedules all around, we still managed to get in a couple separate actor fight training sessions. One for daggers, the other for polearms.

Come Sunday, the team met, and most of them worked through the considerable stack of stunt blades, sanding and preparing them for their first coats of paint, while one went to work on axe hafts. Afterwards, they broke into an hour of only mildly moderated chaos, making the most of the good weather, and ready access to padded weapons...

Monday, we acquired some discount lumber, and muddled through resolving a few tech issues. Such is the life of the indie filmmaker.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!
