The Cycle Continues

Another week, another update. As the title suggests, the scriptwriting process continues its spiral of write-revise-review-retract-repeat. Detours have been taken into aspects of prop and set design, and unique looks are being developed.

The stunt team met again, and this time the new generation were given the 101 on punching things, plus a group exercise on the basic throws of swordplay.

There would be more news, but some of it was absorbed by the late post from last week. So, that's about all for now. Until next time!

We Now Return You...

Well, that was a bit unfortunate. Our internet tanked on blog day, and we've only just now been able to officially update the blog. On the plus side, having to fix it means the whole thing runs much better now.
Anyway, this last month has been a bit rough in the script department, what with reviews suggesting some major redirection. Thus, this last week has been a string of two to twelve page beginnings of scripts, all of which went nowhere. However, in the wee hours of the morning a piece of music inspired me, and now I'm busily writing a new direction for the story, and maybe the whole fictional universe.
Sunday featured sword and shield review, followed by that combo versus the spear, followed by group maneuvers. The latter can prove quite entertaining, now that the group has grown larger and more opinionated. ;-)

Bad form, but brilliant lines of action. ;)

Well, that's about all for this week. Until next time!

Concluding the Era

Wow... this has been a very long time in coming. Way back in 2011 we shot our first feature length project, called "Othersight." For those of you who have followed us for a while, you know it's been a rough road, full of obstacles and pitfalls. We've turned out many more projects since then, and our skills have improved dramatically. But now the journey has come to an end, and our first project has been released into the wild. It's surreal, and kinda awkward, as I can now see all the mistakes I made, the choices that should have been different, if I'd been a more experienced leader. Still, for all that, it is a feature made for less than 7k, whose production value surprises people who thought the budget was far greater. It is a grand experiment, and an education for everyone involved. Without it, I never would have been able to coordinate a shoot like Gatewalkers, nor have the amazing team I have today. If you're curious, and want to see how far we've come, you can find it for digital download here.

Now, to the present. With the newer members of the team at about the same level, we can progress more smoothly with the training. This week was sword and shield.

Also, we were able to acquire several bags of costume elements, thanks to our most industrious head of makeup, who is also helping me nail down the look of one of our story universes.

There's a lot going on in the inner workings of development, but nothing that I can actually report on quite yet. (We've had quite enough directional whiplash for one year, thank you very much.) Makes it kinda hard to do an engaging blog, but hopefully that will change soon.

Well, that's about all for this week. Until next time!

Rocky Road of Review

This last week has been a bit complicated, with the rest of life intruding quite violently into things. Thus there is little to report this week, save perhaps a couple pictures from the weekly stunt meet.

Hopefully this week will bring a final verdict on many of the points mentioned last time.

That's about all for this week. Until next time!
