Bridges

This week we filled in the blanks between large blocks of filming, capturing key scenes that would go into episode 1, and dialog heavy moments that link action-heavy sections. Well, I say action, but that also includes a lot of *SURPRISE!* walking. A LOT of walking. Anyway, we shot scene 7b and 8, with Trevor Owen as Cylavar. Regrettably our regular sound person was acting a lot this week, which meant second camera and BTS photographer was on sound, thus we have relatively few pictures. Still, enjoy!

Next up, lots of talking in a tent, followed by an emotional scene.

Lastly, the post-Solensgate recoup scene, featuring Silas Hart as the half-gnomic smuggler Gref.

Well, we're off to a shoot now. Until next time!

Rewind

This week we are focusing on many scenes that we had attempted to film in the first two weeks, but were cut out due to scheduling conflicts. Hopefully this will mean that we will have the first episode edited together within the next couple weeks.
Late last week we shot the bandit ambush sequence. It would have been two scenes, but location B was right on top of a nest of very angry hornets. That certainly put a slight crimp in things.

Thursday was a day for meeting mysteriously powerful enemies...

Monday we finally filmed the first goblin ambush, with lots of fun smoke effects. I really like the cinematic look we get from these shots. Also, you can see the absolute chaos of the fight...

Tuesday we shot the last scenes between Morrigan and Kate in Solensgate, but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

That's about it for this week. Until next time!

Into the Jaws of the Beast

This week we focused almost exclusively on the Solengate interior shoots. The shoots were fun and visually dramatic, but I must say that anyone who thinks that the country is quiet, especially in the summer, is delusional. Maintaining the sound quality was... difficult, at best. This week we also offer our first glimpses of the Solen. Originally their makeup was supposed to be more extreme, however the lot of playing Lord Iallafan fell to me, and there was no way we could do it without my looking like the 1960's Joker. That said, we found a good plan B, and I think the look on Morrigan in particular is quite striking.

That's about all for this week. Until next time!

The Swarm

This week was a little light on shooting, but heavy on prep work. The Solensgate set is in the final stages of construction, just in time for the shoot there tomorrow.
Yesterday we shot the camp raid scene. Alas, the day suffered from schedule cramp, but we managed to get some pretty impressive footage.

Err... um, no. Not that one.

With very little time to shoot with the goblins, we had to improvise, which is why two of our "goblins" in this picture are only er... half goblin.

(*No elves were harmed in the making of this picture... much.)

That's about it for now. Until next time!

Belated

Due to the fact that we have a big shoot going on today we will be updating the blog tomorrow.
Thanks for checking in!

Day of the Dragon

I almost titled the last blog, “Burn!” I had no idea at the time how prophetic that would have been. Several days of shooting in the oven-like conditions of the quarry roasted Zoe quite severely. Ironically, the pale elf was relatively unscathed.

After many, many hours in that one location, we fled to the cool of the forest. Complications in scheduling once again prevented us from shooting a couple of pivotal episode 1 and 2 scenes, but we made up for it by filming large sections of a half-dozen other scenes. All in all a fair trade.

A special thanks to Ciera and the O’leile family for the horse, and the Staley/Darling family farm for the use of their forest. That’s about it for this week. Until next time!
