The Face of the Guardians

Greetings, one and all! This week has seen a broad spread of productivity. First off, we’ll go with the shiniest piece, and the titular event. After doing more work on the torso armor, we paused for a bit to think on the mechanics of the thing, and instead picked up with making the helm for these entities. It has a few more pieces than the helmets we made for Stormborn, but the plus side is it gives the end result a very different look.

Okay, I said “end result,” but we’re nowhere near there, just yet. The general shape is down, now we have the detailing, sealing, and painting.

In other news, we’ve developed still more architectural design, including the undamaged versions of some ancient architecture…

Between the time when this is written and when it is published, we will also have our first video conference with the members of our team. This will be the first time we've seen all their faces in almost two months, so we’re kinda excited about that.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

Image to Reality

Greetings, one and all! Welcome to another episode from this mad, mad world we now live in.
First off, after publishing the last blog, we recorded some additional footage for the STORMBORN BTS series.

Next up, we’ve begun converting the patterns into the actual props. The polypropylene blanks have been cut out, and marked for their further shaping.

On top of that, we have made progress with the design work, including lots of work on towers…

Y’know, it’s fittingly ironic that actually making the blog never gets into the list of weekly achievements, (as it is pretty obvious, by virtue of well... existing,) despite the fact that it can be an adventure all its own. Case in point, this week all the pictures from two blog posts in this last month just vanished.  Why that happened is still a mystery, but after much research we were eventually able to fix the issue. So, all in all, a fairly eclectic week.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

Patterns and Processes

Greetings, one and all! Well, this week has been a smattering of different projects. For starters, a rather difficult scene in the script got tightened up a bit. We may revisit it at some point, but for now it’s locked. Next up, we made a supply run for assorted model and prop making materials. While the lockdowns and closures have made the shelves somewhat sparsely populated, we did manage to find most of what we needed. If we have to sit in our houses for an undisclosed amount of time, at least we can make some headway in the process…

Thirdly, we started making patterns for stunt weapons, based on the kindjal’s we’d used in previous project, and a brand new design for a custom axe head.

Last, but not least, we’ve also been working on cleaning out the shop, specifically tearing down the ship set, as well as the green screen frame, and then moving everything that had accumulated within it over the last couple years. So lots of dust, mouse… sign, and bats, but we’re making headway.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!
