Prologue Rising

Greetings, one and all! Well, as Omicron sweeps the nation, and people around us go into quarantine, we press ahead with our work. On top of the usual edits and a very complex sound sync, we actually managed to get an important shoot done!

This is the other half of a scene we shot in early December, the effects plates for the prologue. We’ll try to not give away too much here, but hopefully it’ll come together for a very punchy opening minute and a half.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

Back and Running

Greetings, one and all! Well, that was an experience. While most of the team and family are doing a round robin of sickness, I’ve finally emerged with enough energy to blitz through the rough edit of the third block of the movie.

I’ve gotta say, for as many on set photos as we’ve shared over the course of the shoot, it was fairly easy to avoid major spoilers. Just use the pictures that don’t have the major plot points in them. However, when you’re sharing screen grabs from post production, it’s a lot harder, because everything the camera is aimed at is supposed to move the plot along.

Ordinarily I would do a cycle of edit, sync, and color correction/effects, but given some uncertainty about having access to people for any needed ADR, I’m trying to lock that part down as fast as possible. Granted, that does make it quite a bit more tedious than usual, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do…

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

A Pirate's Life?

Greetings, one and all! This week is but a continuation of this last month, which was a round robin of people getting sick. Despite that, we still managed to finish the Scene 15 sound sync, and start into the edit for the next scenes. On top of that, most of the team was able to meet, and they ran a nautically-themed choreography session.

Yes, it was really cold out there, but I’m sure we’re all just glad there wasn’t any real water to fall into during the skirmish.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

Scrap and Sync

Greetings, one and all! First off, the stunt team returned this week, and it was very nice to have them back. It was a smaller group, because cold and flu season, but they worked out the stiffness and malaise of the break with a Medieval street ambush.

On the post production side of things, we’re working through the very tedious process of sound cleanup and syncing for Scene 15. This involves multiple seven minute takes, so scrubbing through those is slow, at best.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!
