The Gatewalkers Teaser Shoot

Hello, and welcome to the Brightsword Productions official blog! Today we get to talk about the work we've been doing for an upcoming web project. Tentatively titled "Gatewalkers," the story revolves around three young people from our world who stumble into another world, a world at war. A master manipulator has gradually absorbed the nations of men into his empire with the very real offer of peace, order, and security. But at what price? His subjects are content not to know that answer. When our heroes are captured by the Ayur, shattered remnants of a once powerful civilization, events are set in motion that will expose the dark heart of a “benevolent” empire. This is war, not just on the field, but in the hearts and minds of men. Before it is over heroes will rise, others will fall, empires will burn, and the stars themselves will plummet from the heavens. Such is the price of a mere idea.

"The urge to save humanity is always a false front for the urge to rule it." --American writer H. L. Mencken (1880-1956)

Before every project we first shoot a teaser to gather support and show people what to expect from the story. In this case it is a prequel, the inciting moment that brings about the events of the series. On Saturday we shot the middle section, a fight between a ranger and the human militia who have come to claim what she is protecting. Sunday afternoon we scouted locations for this next Saturday, when we will shoot the rest of the story. After editing the scene from this last Saturday, I can say that I am pleased. The lessons learned from shooting Othersight paid off quite handsomely. Enjoy the pictures from the shoot, and we'll see you next week!
