The Rush

Well, with only a couple days left until half our leads are suddenly unavailable, we are scrambling to cover all the ground we can before then. Thus far we've made good progress, but several more hurdles await. Not the least of which being utter exhaustion. Shooting two or three days worth of footage in one is quite the experience, let me tell you. Shooting two days in three hours... that's something else entirely. It reminds me of a dance called the Sicilian Circle, where you keep changing partners, sometimes as the tempo accelerates to absurd levels.
Anyway, on to the shiny stuff. We did several horse shoots this week, in one case quite literally... but that's a story for another time.

The elven camp was a highlight of our compressed shoot, as the two elven brothers had a chance to meet for the first time.

To cap it all off and bring two plot threads together, the depredations of a witch and the machinations of the Solen collide, leading to this pivotal scene...

Well, off we go again. If I survive, you'll hear about it next week. Until then!

So It Begins

Crunch time is upon us. The-Shoot-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Repeated looked set to become The-Week-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Repeated when camera B started fritzing out, crashing after every take and corrupting most of a day's shoot footage. Fortunately it is up and running again (mostly.) So we soldier on.
This week was pretty random, so I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves whilst I hop out on a location scout.

Until next time!

The Great Divide

For plot reasons, I can't go into what exactly it is that we filmed this week, except to say that it is a pivotal point in the series, where some major decisions are made. What I can do is show you the pictures. With out further ado, the mystery scene:

We also covered the mandatory training montage scenes, a continuation from the last week. Below you can see a teaser screen capture...

The more recent shoot, however, is no secret. Three of our heroes await an untimely demise. But this team being, well... unique, we couldn't resist a... *ahem*... sight gag.

It was quite the shoot, but between the director's migraine, shooting a huge section of the day in the wrong frame-rate, and the discomfort of being tied to bug-infested wood, all parties concerned agreed that this was The-Shoot-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Repeated.
That's about it for this week. Until next time!

Tipping Point

Well, here we are, the dividing line, the last big push before the end of the summer. There are two big things that we must resolve in the next few days here before we can shoot next week, and they are our biggest logistical challenges. First off, we have the elven camp, which must meet several criteria, not the least of which being clear, yet surrounded by trees, and quiet. The other hurdle is horses. We will need a minimum of five horses for a few scenes, and we currently have three available. Wide open fields (without fences or structures) are also on the "in search of" list.
Anyway, on to the updates. We shot several key scenes this week, not the least of which being Mike and Gwyn meeting Iallafan...

...and the beginning of the mysterious "ring" plot arc. The answers will not be what you think...

On top of that, we did montage work. Lots of montage work...

That said, some of the locations were quite impressive. Shooting in a state park during the summer, as we did for the waterfall sequence, means an audience. The bridge this picture was taken from had a long line of curious bystanders with cameras.
Well, that's about it for this week. Until next time!
