Layers of Detailing

Greetings, one and all! This week has seen consistent productivity, despite playing host to Memorial Day weekend. With the final showdown next on the color correction docket, we’ve spent quite a bit of time refining the audio and edit, trying to get the climactic ending as good as we can.
Currently the cruiser model is lying belly up amidst tools and scraps, whilst we try to figure out the deck situation, but here’s a preview of the main hull, as promised.

On top of that, we also completed the first pass of weathering and detailing the cityscape. That process averaged out to about an hour per structure for the grime alone.

On top of all that, on Sunday the stunties surprised me with a Hobbit-themed birthday party. In keeping with the hobbit’s renowned skill at throwing things, we devised a game that makes for an excellent stunt team workout.

All in all, a productive week, in some quite random ways.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

Alignment

Greetings, one and all! This week saw happy progress into a couple important fronts. First off, the completed ADR has been sound synced, and most of the new ambient sound integrated behind it. There are still things like footsteps and breathing to replace, but we’re getting close.
With that coming together, we have begun color correction and effects work on the final two episodes.

However, that has run into the bottleneck of incomplete miniatures. Even though the Hunter’s ship is completed, setting up an environment for filming miniatures is time intensive, so we wouldn’t want to do that more than once. Fortunately, that brings us to our next bit of good news. The Imperium cruiser model, complicated as its design has been, is finally coming together. We hope to have pictures for you next week.

Lastly, the team met Sunday and ran one of our more story-driven choreography exercises to date: A medieval urban assault on a chapel by raiders.

It was a frantic melee in tight quarters, with good moments for all parties involved.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

Final Recordings!

Greetings, one and all! It is with great joy that I announce a milestone, but that is a fairly recent development, so first things first.
First off, painting continued on the cityscape. This time, with colors you will actually be seeing in front of the camera. The primary coat went on with only one mishap, and you can see the results below.

Grime, shadows, and highlights, along with detail colors, come next.
The aforementioned mishap led to a redesign of the cruiser model, as the incident showed that we couldn’t rely on the materials we had been planning for. However, hopefully this will result in the model looking even better than before.

Finally, it is with great pleasure that I announce that we have wrapped the last dialog recording session for Stormborn! Tuesday afternoon, we recorded the voices of two troopers and a reporter, closing out our needed dialog for the series.

Of course, there will still be Foley work to do, (that’s recording sounds for things like doors, engines, and blades,) but at long last, the voices have wrapped.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!
