Class Signups Live!

So, the big centerpiece from this last week was the completion of the signup page for our swordplay class, and the team starting to advertise for said class. It's slated to begin on the 27th of June, and run Tuesdays and Thursdays (excluding the 4th of July) for nine sessions. Subjects to include use of the longsword, sword and shield, spear, and dagger, as well as tactical thought and group maneuvers. The page can be found here:

Now, we emerge from the flurry of activity that was this last week, and dive back in with a fresh batch of craziness. Wrestling various schedules, printing more fliers, arranging meetings, actually getting traction with scripts, and the aftermath work from the birthday season... Oh yes, and catching up with ll of the things on the micro-farm that the late rains had prevented us from doing, before they return again. So tons of fun. :-P

Hammering out the Details

This week has become a blur of activity, as we're writing flyers, setting up the landing pages for anyone interested in our class, and hashing out how, exactly, we'll be receiving payment. All that while things like scripts and the familial birthday season develop in the background.

Sunday, the team met, and we went through the first series of cuts and parries that we'll be teaching.

This had the additional benefit of helping us understand how long it would take to teach, when the time comes. I may be shuffling a few things around, on the schedule... Anyway, progress is being made, and if all goes well, we'll have the first of our ads out in the general market by this time next week.

Well, that's about all for this week. Until next time!

Swordplay Class is a Go!

That's right, ladies and gentlemen. After months of wrangling, the Brightsword Productions stunt team is moving forward at top speed with plans to teach a Medieval Swordplay class this summer. While we were brainstorming ways to fund-raise for our next project, this idea had come up. However, the logistics can be prohibitive, so it took a while to move the right pieces into place. The most vital segment came this time last week, when we secured permission for a class location. Special thanks to Mark Miner for that.

Sunday was Mother's Day, so there was no stunt meet. But Tuesday most of the team met to go over the various aspects of the class, its logistics, and what preparations would be needed for signups, the students, and any pre-training on particular aspects.

Well, that's about all for this week. Until next time!

What's in a Week?

Hmm... let's see... what was this week like? Well, for most of the time between the last blog and this week, we were preparing for a garage sale to raise a few extra bucks for production. After the sale on Saturday, the tired team members met with their considerably more awake counterparts to choreograph a bridge fight scene.

That was suitably chaotic, and may be revisited again, as the premise was interesting. Above and beyond that, much proceeds as it has, slow and steady steps forward.

Well, that's about all for this week. Until next time!

Breakin' Out the 'Sabers

Greetings one and all! Well, this has been a crazy week. We're still pursuing angles on a location for the swordplay class while the clock ticks down. Meanwhile, we're prepping for something of a communal garage sale, hopefully raising a few bucks from that angle.

Also, since this week is May the 4th, aka. "Star Wars Day," we decided to shake things up and have the team do some lightsaber choreography.

We implemented a twist in the methodology to keep things fresh and creative within the duel, whilst racking up a considerable amount of work at once. But I think we'll just keep that as our trade secret for now. ;-)

Well, that's about all for this week. Until next time!
