Ears: Step 3

This week has been productive, if somewhat slow, but I expect things to pick up quite quickly. Two varieties of goblin prosthetics are on order, we will mix and match elements to see what look we like the best. That should be fun, if a bit tedious. Speaking of...

that is the largest accomplishment of the week: the second ear was cast and we have begun sculpting the points. If all goes well we should have a completed cast of the actual prosthesis in the next two weeks.

Until next time!

This Time, it's... Personnel

Okay, bad pun aside, this has been a "people" week. Opening with meeting the relatives of one of my stunt men to develop costuming plans, we then arranged to meet a gentleman who will be trying out for one of our more challenging roles, but more on that in the after action report.

We also ran an experimental cast to see if the basic process for making custom elf ears would work. Thus far we have the positive mold of the ear. Next we will cast its opposite and begin sculpting the points.

We capped off the week by meeting with a long time team member about funding, so we shall see where that leads.

Thanks for reading! Until next time.

The Grind Goes On

This week saw the addition of three new members to the stunt team, with the possible addition of several more. Welcome aboard, guys!

Friday saw another practice session, followed by a discussion on character arcs and perspectives.

As promised, the cuirass photo from last week. Next up, the wide gut belt, and vambraces.

In related news, the new lighting setup arrived yesterday, and should prove invaluable for late night shoots in the woods. Also, our resident composer David Hamilton won runner-up for Best Original Film Score at the SAICFF. Congratulations David!

Well, this was more laconic than usual, but I think the pictures make up for it. A thousand words, and all that, right?

Until next time!

3...2...1... Ignition!

Wow, this week has been loaded with progress. First off, we found bargain price cloth that had enough character and "texture" (in my prop designer's words) to really make our actors look like they belong in this strange new world. The local farm and ranch store also had great prices on natural fiber rope, which we'll need for everything from snares to handles. The primary element of Savara's armor has been completed, and looks quite good, very appropriate to her character, (in my humble opinion.) We'll be updating the blog later with pictures.

Friday the lead actors met to go through the second half of the script, with Constance (Morrigan) joining us for the first time. Zoe (Kate) and Annie (Erin) set apart time to refine a scene that we hope to be able to present you as a sampling of what they're capable of and where the story is going.

The character interaction was spot on, with one observer commenting that the two "best friends" looked like exactly that, arguing like they'd known each other their entire lives, instead of just five months.

Sunday saw a meeting of the stunt team... with several missing. We focused on training the newest member, followed by free sparring. Nothing shatters illusions of what works and what doesn't quite like a spear in the throat.

In other news, the silicone for the elven prosthetics is on order, as are the battery powered lights we'll be using on location. That, ladies and gentlemen, is all the PRODUCTION news for the week, but there are many more things that will make us even busier in the weeks to come.

Until next time!
