The Return of the Stunties

Greetings, one and all! First off, it’s with great joy that I say that the stunt team has finally reconvened, after several weeks apart. We opened with basic refresher drills, like marching, falling, and rolling, before moving on to such things as getting shot.

To fill out the ADR and Foley work, we also captured a key reaction from one of our team members.
On top of that, we have begun the process of shooting the cityscape in front of the green screen. The night shots have been completed, and now we must find the appropriate matching lighting for the daylight shots.

Lastly, the crystal tower platform assembly is coming together. Now we just have the multiple layers of paint to do…

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

Clashing Arms

Greetings, one and all! This week has been dominated by a series of audio recording sessions, called Foley in the vernacular, where we record everything from blades striking on blades, to feet scuffing in the dirt.

This has been paired with extensive sessions of syncing said audio clips to the appropriate places within the edit. Of particular note is one fight scene where our sound recorder’s batteries died, and the replacements failed, as well. Thus I’ve spent the last few days methodically attempting to replicate every sound from the scene, on top of the added Foley and effects from the fight, itself.

A particular sticking point has been getting the proper sound for an object deflecting off of an energy shield. That will be the focus of our work today, after balancing the current audio.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!

On the Uses of Ganymede

Greetings, one and all! To start out our weekly update, the Imperium cruiser received surface detailing, and its first coat of paint.

Effects work and refinement has continued into Episode 7, along with still more audio work that has largely involved balancing the Praetor’s voice, and filling in missing sound effects. Another particular highlight was turning Ganymede into a dirty screen. Apparently moons are useful for more than just the tides. Who knew, eh?

Tuesday we finally had the space we needed to record Foley for the series. Most of it having to do with blades clashing and sliding, along with the odd falling body. This will allow us to sew up large parts of Episodes 4 and 8.

Well, that’s about all for this week. Until next time!
